TANK TRANSFERS FOR B.S.A. BANTAM
MODELS D3 1954-57, D5 1958 & D7 1959
When preparing the artwork for the above transfers we were working from a small strip of surviving unused originals. They are all of one hand with the Bantam Cock facing to the right.
On checking works photographs to see if we could ascertain the correct layout for the other hand we could find no evidence that they were actually made as pairs and the few pictures we could find of the left hand side of these models show the Bantam Cock always facing the back of the machine. We refer restorers to the works photograph of a 1959 D7 in the B.S.A. Singles Restoration Guide by Roy Bacon (page 140).
Unless new evidence comes to light by way of surviving original transfers, works photograph etc. then we shall continue to offer these transfers as one hand only.
In passing we would mention that we asked Ken Hallworth to check through the original press and publicity archives at the Classic Motor Cycle Magazine – his searches came to exactly the same conclusion as ourselves.
