Development of Moto Guzzi G.P. and Normale (1921–1924)

Origins: Carlo Guzzi began developing motorcycles during World War I. With financial support from Giorgio Parodi, the first Guzzi motorcycle took shape in 1920. It was designed to be practical, affordable, and reliable, avoiding the common issues of motorcycles of that time.

 

Innovative Features:

    • Horizontal cylinder design.
    • External flywheel.
    • Geared primary drive.
    • Dual ignition with a unit construction gearbox.

 

Specifications of the Normale Model (1921–1924)

 

  • Engine: Four-stroke flat single, 88x82mm bore and stroke, 498.4cc displacement.
  • Compression Ratio: 4:1.
  • Output: 8 HP at 3200 RPM, maxing at 8.5 HP at 3400 RPM.
  • Valve Arrangement: Opposed inlet at the side; exhaust overhead with rocker arms.
  • Carburetor: Geared pressure pump, vacuum-type scavenger.
  • Gearbox: Hand-change 3-speed with chain drive.
  • Suspension:
    • Front: Girder forks.
    • Rear: Rigid frame.
  • Brakes: Single rear wheel expansion brake with pedal and manual control.

Design Insights

 

Prototype (1920): The first prototype featured a 4-valve engine, triangulated rear-section frame, and external flywheel. It influenced the later Normale model.

About the Product

We only use the highest quality materials available to produce our transfers. Four figure reference numbers refer to our waterslide stock and four figure reference numbers suffixed with 'LC' refer to our higher performance grade (50 micron) vinyl transfers. We supply scrap vinyl 'LC' orders so that you can test your varnish/lacquer out. Please contact us if you wish for some waterslide scrap.

Returns Policy

If you wish to return your transfers you can send them back to us at: The Pin Mill, New Street, Charfield, GL12 8ES without delay and in any event not later than 14 days from the day on which you tell us you wish to return your order. The deadline is met as long as you post the items before the period of 14 days has expired as we recognise that sending your order back from countries such as the U.S.A and/or Australia etc.. can take weeks. You agree that you will have to bear the cost of returning goods. The transfers need to be in their original condition for us to accept refunds. Customers are only entitled to request a refund within 6 months of purchasing the goods.
