Description

TANK TRANSFERS FOR B.S.A. BANTAM

MODELS D3 1954-57, D5 1958 & D7 1959

When preparing the artwork for the above transfers we were working from a small strip of surviving unused originals. They are all of one hand with the Bantam Cock facing to the right.

On checking works photographs to see if we could ascertain the correct layout for the other hand we could find no evidence that they were actually made as pairs and the few pictures we could find of the left hand side of these models show the Bantam Cock always facing the back of the machine.  We refer restorers to the works photograph of a 1959 D7 in the B.S.A. Singles Restoration Guide by Roy Bacon (page 140).

Unless new evidence comes to light by way of surviving original transfers, works photograph etc. then we shall continue to offer these transfers as one hand only.

Please note that the V.M.C.C. Transfer Service were offering these as a pair at one time, 12 or more years ago, but as the then Transfer Secretary Dickie Dent is no longer with us it is not possible to check his information.  This of course only confuses the situation.

In passing we would mention that we asked Ken Hallworth to check through the original press and publicity archives at the Classic Motor Cycle Magazine – his searches came to exactly the same conclusion as ourselves.

We trust this clarifies the matter.

About the product

We only use the highest quality materials available to produce our transfers. Four figure reference numbers refer to our waterslide stock and four figure reference numbers suffixed with 'LC' refer to high performance grade (50 micron) vinyl transfers. All transfers should be protected from petrol/chemical spillages, certain degreasants and rubbing compounds. If in any doubt, use the enclosed test strip which is supplied with vinyl transfers with the products you intend to use. Please contact us if you wish for some waterslide scrap for testing purposes.

Information regarding Years and Position is to the best of our knowledge and may not be 100% accurate.
